Quadro - Ytron XC

The Quadro Ytron XC Powder Disperser complies with 3A Sanitary Standards and is USDA accepted as a Full CIP Sanitary Design and Fabrication for Dairy Processing Equipment. The XC has a dual stage reactor housing designed specifically to incorporate and disperse large quantities of powders into a liquid stream in a single pass, without aeration. The XC can be used continuously as part of an in-line process or as part of a batch process. The XC is available in two models, the XC1 and XC3.

Advantages of the XC

  • Performance
  • Concentrations up to 40% in a single pass
  • Lump free dispersions, even at cold temperatures
  • Higher product yield due to the intensive wetting of the powders
  • Single Pass Operation
  • Repeatable, consistent product, batch to batch
  • No product recirculating required, reduced batch times
  • Inline Powder Incorporation
  • No unnecessary air entrainment
  • No powder wastage
  • Easy Clean-up
  • 3A Approved
  • CIP
  • Sanitary construction

The Ytron XC has a dual stage reactor. The first stage in the reactor creates a strong vacuum ensuring the powders are drawn into the reactor head. Immediately after the powder comes into contact with the liquid, the premix is subjected to directional and velocity changes as the mix repeatedly impinges on stationary baffles. The second stage tangentially discharges a smooth, lump-free, homogeneous product.

The Ytron XC Powder Disperser overcomes the inherent problem of in-tank batch mixers which expose the powder agglomerates to randomly distributed inconsistent shear resulting in unpredictability, batch to batch. Inline dispersion ensures each particle is subjected to uniform shear as they pass through the rotor / stator, guaranteeing consistent, homogeneous dispersions.

The XC Powder Disperser can be adapted to accept powders from a multitude of feed methods. Some of the more common methods include:

  • Hand feed powder into a hopper
  • Bag dump station
  • QuadroVac vacuum delivery system
  • Wanding from a bag or drum
  • Feed from a silo
  • Feed from a bulk bag delivery system

Quadro - Ytron Z

The Quadro Ytron Inline Z Emulsifier is designed for versatility and provides its users with new and more efficient approaches to traditional processing techniques. Inline technology provides control of your coarse dispersions and wet grinding, fine solids dispersions, and immiscible phase emulsifying/homogenizing by specifying the tooling to provide the required energy per unit volume to guarantee consistent product. The high speed mechanical and hydraulic shear are the key to its wide range of applications:

  • Emulsification
  • Deagglomeration
  • Microsuspension
  • Dispersion
  • Viscosity Adjustment
  • "Mouth Feel" Improvement
  • Texturing
  • Homogenization

The 'Z' can be used to replace inefficient in-tank high shear mixers and low pressure piston homogenizers. In addition, it can be used as an additional processing step to make up for poor dispersion or processing of ingredients upstream of the unit. The 'Z' can be used in either a batch re-circulating set-up or in a single pass, continuous processing mode. When set-up for single-pass operation, the 'Z' offers unparalleled consistency and repeatability in process results.

Principle of Operation

One or more liquid phase(s), as well as suspended particles, are pumped through the rotor/stator. Quadro Ytron "Z" Emulsifiers are built to house up to three rotor/stator sets with extremely fine radial tolerances. The rotors and stators themselves are made with different slot widths offering the user the ultimate in flexibility and multi-product usage.

Product enters the 'Z' housing axially and must pass through 1 to 3 sets of toothed rotor/stator elements before exiting the housing. With virtually no re-circulation of product (as you would get with an in-tank high shear  mixer), a controlled, high intensity shearing is delivered equally to all fluid elements irrespective of product characteristics. The shear rate is constant regardless of other process changes and is dependant only upon the rotor tip speed and rotor/stator tooth selection.

Electrics HP (Maximum) [kw]: 10 [7.5]
Capacity @ 60 psi, gal/min [L/min]*: 25 [90]
Tip Speed ft./sec [m/sec]: 68 [21]
Rotor & Stator Sets: 1 to 3
Operating Pressure psi [bar]: 0 - 120 [0 - 8]
Inlet and Discharge Fitting: 1.5"
Tri-Clamp Sanitary Design: Optional
* Actual capacity dependent on the product viscosity, number and size of tooling

Quadro - Ytron ZC

The Quadro Ytron ZC Powder Disperser complies with 3A Sanitary Standards and is USDA accepted as a full CIP Sanitary Design and Fabrication of Dairy Processing Equipment. The ZC is designed specifically to disperse extremely difficult to wet powders into a liquid stream, in a single pass, without aeration, or the need for additional solvents or heat. This efficient mixing results in no waste, no lumps or 'fish-eyes'.

Advantages of the ZC Technology

  • The ability to hydrate completely all the difficult to wet gums and polymers in a single pass
  • Capacities from 10 to 120 usgpm (38 to 455 L/min.)
  • Concentrations up to 15% by weight
  • Up to 40% powder savings / no powder wastage or overshear
  • Reduced batch time
  • No unnecessary air entrainment
  • Easy clean-up and portability
  • Optional vacuum delivery system for completely dust-free operation

Principle of Operation

The Quadro Ytron ZC Powder Disperser incorporates a close tolerance high shear slotted rotor / stator design. The rotor is designed to create a liquid ring generating significant vacuum in the reactor head. This vacuum ensures that powders from the hopper above are drawn into the reactor head where they are sheared into the liquid phase before hydration takes place. The result is a smooth consistent, lump free slurry without recirculating and over-shearing the product after hydration takes place.

Quadro has several rotor and stator designs that can be used in any combination to achieve the desired powder incorporation concentration and shear intensity for your application. We recommend consulting Quadro or your local representatives to review the rotor and stator selection.

The ZC Powder Disperser overcomes the inherent problem of in-tank batch mixers which expose the powder agglomerates to randomly distributed inconsistent shear resulting in unpredictability, batch to batch. Inline dispersion ensures each particle is subjected to uniform shear as it passes through the rotor / stator, guaranteeing a consistent, homogeneous dispersion.
